Mrs. Anna Mary Gloden, 81, widow of John P. Gloden, died Tuesday at 4 PM at her home, 148 Kaufmann Avenue. Mrs. Gloden had been an invalid for 9 years. Mrs. Gloden was born on Kaufmann Avenue and lived all her life on that street. The body is at Hoffmann Mortuary. Funeral Thursday morning to Sacred Heart Church for 9 am requiem mass. Burial will be at Calvary.

Mrs. Gloden was born Christmas day 1861, a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Kaufman Schenker, pioneer Dubuquers. Mrs. Gloden was married in Dubuque in 1882 to John P. Gloden. Her husband died June 29, 1942

Surviving are her daughters Mrs. Louis (Lillian) Vogel and Mrs. Alois (Nellie) Weitz, both of Dubuque, her sons Louis L. Gloden of Dubuque and Arthur M. Gloden of Portland, Oregon. She is also survived by her sisters Mrs. Rose Minges, Dubuque, Mrs. Elizabeth Zugelder, Gunnison, Colorado, and Mrs. Mathilda Uhland of Ft. Logan, Colorado. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, Sister Mary Cortona OFM, two sisters and two brothers.

John Gloden and his wife Celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary by Being the Hosts to Relatives and Many Old Friends. At 8:15 nuptial vows were renewed at Sacred Heart Church. Breakfast was served at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Louis J. Vogel, 715 Alta Vista. Mrs. Vogel is a daughter.

They were married in St. Mary's church May 24, 1882 by Rev. Father Kuemper. Mr. Gloden was born in Luxembourg May 4, 1857 and came to Dubuque when he was 15.He worked for many years at Dubuque Brewing and Malting Co., and later for several years he was toll collector on the Dubuque & East Dubuque High bridge.

In 1911 Mr. And Mrs. Gloden visited relatives in France, Luxembourg and Switzerland.

Mrs. Gloden (Anna Schenker) was born in Dubuque in 1861 on Christmas day.

They have two daughters, Mrs. Alois Weitz (Nellie Gloden), Mrs. Louis Vogel (Lillian Gloden), both of Dubuque, and one son, Arthur Gloden of Portland, Oregon. A daughter, Sister Mary Cortona of St. Francis order and a son, Herbert, have passed away.
