His parents went to Tennessee because on December 27, 1787, Barton Scroggin of Hawkins County, Tennessee married Dicey Russell in Grainger County, Tennessee.
Humphrey Scroggin, Jr. also moved to Illinois.
From Green: "enlisted in Continental Army when 17, serving thru-out Revolutionary War, being present when Lord Cornwallis surrendered his army to Gen. George Washington at Yorktown, Va. Oct. 19, 1781; family moved to Ky., in 1811 came to present Gallatin Co., Ill.; about 1828 settled in the "Lake Ford Country", southern portion of present Logan Co." Pension Number: R9325V
Order of children was taken from Green.
Green shows a son, Jeff, which I have not listed. It doesn't give a birth date or death date and says he had no children. In the absence of additional data, I'm assuming he might be the same person as Thomas Jefferson Scroggin, who is already included.
