Biography

Lillie was born in Greene County, TN., in 1876. She was the daughter of Hugh Self and Happy Ealy. Some have her name as Lillian, but we are unsure where that conclusion is from, we have seen no records, her headstone says "Lillie" and has always been referred to as Lillie by family members.

The family was still living in Greene County in early 1880 when the census was taken, but it is believed the family moved to Southwest Missouri later that year.

She grew up in rural McDonald County, where she married Joe Brock in about 1895.

The family had 3 children, Freddie, Carl and Nova, although Freddie died as an infant.

The family lived most of their lives in rural McDonald County, however it is believed that they moved to Joplin, Missouri in their last years, where Lillie was living on Moffett Street when she passed away in 1953.

Following copied from appears to be a newspaper clipping regarding her death:

Lillie died at 7 a.m. at her home at 1601 Moffett St. of Cerebral Hemorrhage due to Hypertension. She had been ill for 3 days.
