Carl was the twin of Maria Emma Semmler (1879-1954).
Carl married Frida Olga Seppelt (1890-1957) (the daughter of Ludwig Seppelt) on 17 September 1925 at the Luterhan Church at Nain, South Australia[2].
They had one child, Hans Ludwig Semmler (1926-2003).
Carl died 26 June 1945, aged 66, at Greenock, South Australia[3].
