Biography

John was born in 1839 in Finuremore in Mullach, Co Clare, the son of Daniel Sexton and Anne Moroney. In 1868 at the age of 29, he married Anne Marrinan in Clooney in Ennistymon, County Clare. They settled to farm in Doonogan in the Mullagh area in County Clare. They raised a family together that would number ten children. By 1901, they were living in nearby Cloonadrum where John was a shopkeeper. By 1911, the family moved north to Knockaculla near Inagh. John died of old age in 1922 in Derrymore at the age of 83.
