Biography

Norman was born in 1926, the third of four brothers.[1,2] He was raised on a farm.[2] When he was ten years old, his parents, Robert Shafer and Beatrice Moen Shafer, both died. He and his brothers were split up between different relatives. The 1940 census shows him living with Adolphus and Margaret Kotzman;[3] Adolphus was the husband of his aunt Ellen who died in 1938.

Norman served in the U.S. Navy Reserves in World War II and afterward, from March 1944 to August 1951.[6] In 1948 Norman married Bonni Decker in Clackamas County, Oregon[5]. Norman and Bonni had a daughter. Norman's occupation, as shown on his death certificate, was paper maker.[7]

Normal passed away in 1954 at age 28.[1,4]
