Biography

Lott Sharp was born in about 1777 in Bedford, Virginia, the son of John Sharp and Anne Dooley. He married Rachel Dooley on 23 May 1809 in Bedford, Virginia.

Lott was listed in his father John Sharp’s Will. Item IV: “I give devise and bequeath unto my two sons Lott & John upon the death of my wife Anne the plantation on which I now live”. He was also an executor of his father’s Will.

Lott was a farmer. The 1820, 1830 and 1840 United States Censuses show Lott living in Bedford, Virginia. When his wife Rachel died in 1850, he moved to Ross, Clinton, Indiana. The 1860 U.S. Census shows Lott, 83, living there with his son Solomon’s family. Solomon Sharp was 42, his wife Mary Miller was 37, and their 3 children were: Cyrus Miller, 15, Mary Miller, 13, and William Miller, 11.

Lott died some time after 1870, as he is listed at age 92 living with his son on that year’s Census, in Clinton, Indiana.

Sharp-3161 and Sharp-3363 appear to represent the same person because: They both have same father. Information missing on some entries.

It is extremely doubtful that Lott Sharp is the Son of John (Schaup) Sharp Sr. born 1740 and Anne (Dooley) Sharp born in 1744.
