Elizabeth Sharp was born in 1815 in Richmond, New South Wales (Australia). She was the third daughter of British Army Officer turned farmer Thomas Sharp and emancipated convict [[Burrell-1452|Martha Burrell]. Her father passed away in 1823.
Elizabeth married William Clemson in 1832 in St John's Church of England (now Anglican Church), Wilberforce, New South Wales. The couple had twelve children living by the Hawkesbury-Nepean River.
Aged about 79 years and having been widowed for seven years, she passed away in 1894 in Gundagai, in southern New South Wales. She was survived by eight sons, two daughters, children-in-law, and at least thirty grandchildren.
Although Elizabeth had witnessed the eras of the squatter, goldrushes and bushrangers, and the coming of the railway, she failed to see the federation of the various British Colonies into the Commonwealth of Australia by just six years.
