Reginald was born on the 27th April 1903 basd on the 1939 National Register, in Taunton, Somerset. His mother's maiden name was Farley.[1]

In the 1911 census Reginald (age 7), School, was the son of Richard Shire at 1 Aplins Cottage, Trull, Somerset, England.[2]
