This situation was originally started when Aaron Flood McKendree (1805-1891) was added as a son of Mary (St. Clair) Waldron (abt.1784-aft.1850). I promptly disconnected him, thinking to myself "No Way!!" However, curiosity got me doing a bit more research on the thoughts behind the WHY! From what I found, many "researchers" were listing her surname as Sinclair/St.Clair without any sourcing to support that surname. But after more searching, I determined that there may be valid reasons for that surname or at least a connection to the Sinclair/St.Clair line.
These are the reasons that I believe there is a connection of the McKendrees to the Sinclair/St.Clair family. There is an association of Robert and Aaron McKendree with Jacob Feazel (1803-1883), son of Joseph Feazel and Rachel (St. Clair) Feazel, an elder sister of Mary (St. Clair) Yates Waldron. The sources supporting their association are:
1. Robert McKendree provided surety for the marriage of Jacob Feazel (1803-1883) in Franklin County, Virginia, 1835.[1]
2. A 1838 Franklin County, Virginia Chancery Court case was filed by Aaron F. McKendree and Jacob Feazel pertaining to a case filed by a "near relative, Nancy Feazel".[2]Note: Nancy Feazel is most likely Nancy Feazel, sister of Jacob, and daughter of Rachel (St. Clair) Feazel.
This profile is basically a result of circumstantial evidence and DNA matches to me and other St.Clair cousins. The manager of the DNA for the FM, a speculative McKendree descendant, who DNA matches mine, has told me that FM shows with a fair number of McKendree and St.Clair descendants on Ancestry's Thrulines which is where I found my connection to FM as well. Thankfully a GEDMatch number was posted for FM. I was able to add her match to DNA Painter and located the other cousins that triangulate in the same area of Chr 12. BJS
Per the manager of the DNA of FM, she has a source from a book, "1883 History of Fairfield and Perry Counties, Ohio" (no other information provided) that states that the parents of Mary Ann (Pickerel) Sheeler (abt.1837-abt.1920) were Aaron and Mary Ann Pickerel. The DNA manager of FM stated that she has found "no record of an Aaron Pickerel living in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia or West Virginia." Based on the DNA matches of descendants of Aaron Flood McKendree (1805-1891), she believes him to be the Aaron mentioned in the book. I tend to think the author of the article in 1883 was reluctant to mention that Mary Ann Pickeral was not married to the father... BJS
These connections with necessary research are still "in work". I am hoping that no one is "offended" by the connections I will be making. DNA has been found to show things about which we would rather not know!! BJS
Maybe in the future additional McKendree descendants may join WikiTree or possibly show up in someone's Ancestry Thrulines or other DNA sites. BJS
