Eliza G Skelton was born about 1808 in Horse Branch, Dickson, Tennessee, USA, daughter of Archibald Skelton (1777–1853) and Sarah Brown (after 1776–1858).
Eliza married William Ballard Bartee (born on 8 May 1808; son of Jesse Bartee and Sarah (Harkleroad) Bartee). Their known children were:
- John Hartwell Bartee (1827 – 13 February 1887) .
- Jasper Brown Bartee (0 January 1829 – 5 January 1903)
