"I Henrey Skyles taking into my serious consideration of my former errors and mistakes in giving my plantation unto my son John Skyles his hands by bad councel and evil advice in order to defraud my wife and all my children out of their just claims to my estate contrary to all law, justice and equity and have made a will according as my conscience directed me that if ever it be called in question amongst honest and Christian men that the said will be put in Execution for approval? to God the impartial Judge Quick and dead if it was not out of a principle of correction that I caused that said will to be formed which is dated the day and year above written."

"I Henry Skyles of Leacock of Leacock township & county of Lancaster . . . I give unto my beloved wife Catherine Skyles . . . provided that my wife afforesaid shall behave properly towards my children & not give herself to the liberty of being drunk or to drink to excess . . . I give & bequeath to my sons William, Henry, Petter & Harman . . . I give unto my daughters Elizabeth Rutter, Catherine Cowen, and Ann Elizabeth Dobbins . . . I give & bequeath unto my youngest son James & youngest daughter Margaret . . . and if my son James or daughter Margaret should die before they come to full age or have issue, I order that my son John Skyles, shall have the portion or part of such decd added to his dividend it is also my will that my son John afforesaid shall have my big waggon & the two waggon hourses, to wit, Duke and Jolly and the horned cattle which he already hath in possession . . . And I nominate and appoint my trusty and beloved friend Edward Barwick Esq. and my son John Skyles to me the executors . . . this 19th day of April, 1750 . . ."
Henry signed with an X. Witnessed by Isaac Richardson, John Moore and Thomas Henderson. Isaac Richardson and James Moore declared that this was Henry Skyles will on 1 Jun 1750. Isaac Richardson and James Moore again declared that this was Henry Skyles will on 14 Jun 1757.[2]
