Ethel was born 15 Mar 1891 to George Skillings and Maria Hagey.^[1] She lived with her parents and siblings in Blandford, Oxford North, Ontario in 1891,^[2] 1901^[3] and 1911.^[4]

Ethel married Herbert David Hilderley on 6 Sep 1911 in Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario.^[5] They had children, including:

• Norma Lenore Hilderley- born 1913
• Lloyd Harold Hilderley - born 1915
• Ivan George Robert Hilderley - born 1917
• Stanley Herbert Hilderley - born 1920
• James Elton Hilderley - born 1935.

Ethel passed away in 1973.
