Biography

Edward was born in 1827. He is understood to be the son of John M. Smith (1790 - 1843) and Sarah E. Taylor (1806 - 1870). In 1850 he is enumerated on the federal census in Yalobusha County, MIssissippi. He is 23 years old, a "Planter" and unmarried. [1] In 1860 he would identify as both farmer and "M.D." Edward married two times: to Susan Kinney in 1852 and to Sarah Pulliam in 1857.[2] He passed away in 1880. [3]
