Biography

Private Jordan Smith served in the United States Civil War.
Enlisted: 10 Mar 1862
Mustered out: 6 Mar 1863
Side: CSA
Regiment(s): 45th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company A

Jordan married Mary Ann Clark, 12 Jun 1846, Barbour County, Alabama. Her date of death is unknown but we think she might have died at the birth of her last child William who we think was born on November 3rd, 1859 in Henry County, Ala. She is present in 1860 census, but I think that was an error and nothing after that. Jordan was married to Alcey in 1864 and Jordan died in 1865 so says his estate settlement papers so I don't think the information is correct about him dying in 1863 in Virginia. 1870 census show the two youngest boys, James and William, living with with their Clark relatives. The other children are all married.

  1. Mary Ann (1847–1905) - m. Andrew Butler Kelly

  4. James Rederick (1854–1923) - m. Angie Pope
  5. William B. (1858-?) - m. Mary UNKNOWN
