Charles Smith was born on 1 August 1911 at Lintmill Cottage, Boyndie, Banffshire, Scotland. He was the son of Peter Smith and Jessie Robertson.[1][2] He was raised as Catholic but due to their rules regarding marriage he changed over to become a Presbyterian so was able to marry. He married Helen Murdoch Ingram on 15 Jul 1932 in Grange, Banffshire, Scotland.[3]
They had 5 boys and 3 girls. He worked the majority of his live as a farm hand at various farms including Cawdor Estate and finally at Mains of Strutthers at Kinloss, Moray, Scotland.
He was also active in the work of the Presbyterian church at Kinloss being an Elder for many years.
He died on 8 March 2002 and is buried at Kinloss Abbey Cemetry with his wife and son Ian Smith.[4][5]
