Biography

SUSANNAH SMITH [daughter of Philip Smith and Mary Mathews] ... died after 27 Sept. 1804. She married John Lee, son of Philip and Sarah (Brooke) Lee, who was born in Maryland and left will 24 April 1777-19 May 1777. He resided at "Smithfield," Essex County and was clerk of Essex County court...[1]

She married (1) Robert Taliaferro, son of John and Sarah (Smith) Taliaferro, of Essex and Spotsylvania counties, who left will 1 Feb. 1727/8-4 Feb. 1728/9, and (2), (license 22) Oct. 1728, Moseley Battaley of Spotsylvania County, captain of militia, vestryman of St. George's Parish, 1740-58, who married (2) Margaret _______ and left will 23 Sept. 1757-5 Dec. 1758... James Ball, Jr., of "Bewdley," Lancaster County born 31 Dec. 1718, died 24 Nov.1789, left will 3 Sept, 1789-21 Dec, 1789. He was vestryman of St. Stephen's Parish , Northumberland County, 1744-89, burgess for Lancaster County, 1755, resigning to become Sheriff, and 1769, and member of the House of Delegates, 1783-86, 1787-88...
