When Doris Lucille Smith was born on May 2, 1935, in Fithian, Illinois, her father, Roy, was 35, and her mother, Rose, was 37. At age 14 she was selling popcorn in a movie theater. About 1952 Doris was married and quickly had two children. In 1957 she married Cecil Wayne Windecker. Cecil adopted the two children and they had four more children together. Doris was widowed when Cecil died in 2014. Doris died on November 24, 2017, in Ackley, Iowa, at the age of 82, and was buried in Iowa Falls, Iowa.
