Biography

Charlotte (Smith) Ainsworth was born in the Colony of New South Wales (1788-1900)

Charlotte Smith was born on 8 August 1838 at Austral Eden, in the colony of New South Wales, Australia. Her father was Thomas Smith and Mary Harriet Smith (nee Birdsill)

She married Isaac Ainsworth on 11 February 1856 at Austral Eden on the McLeay River by the Minister of St Andrew's Presbyterian church, Port Macquarie, New South Wales. [1] [2]

Charlotte's sister, Eliza, married John Bowen Ainsworth, her husband's first cousin once removed, in 1862.

MRS. CHARLOTTE AINSWORTH. The death, at her daughter's residence, 10 Ridge-street, Sydney, on June 24th, of Mrs. Charlotte Grace Ainsworth. formerly of the Nambucca, leaves another gap in the fast-thinning ranks of the sturdy settlers of the Northern Rivers. Deceased, aged 84, was predeceased by her husband, the late Isaac Ainsworth, and one daughter, Mrs. John Williams. Of the sturdy family she reared, the foliowing well-known and respected citizens survive : Messrs. John, Phillip and James Ainsworth, of this river ; Mr. Walter Ainsworth, Mrs. W. Steele, and Mrs. Cameron of the Nambucca ; Mrs. Shem Davis, Wyong ; Mrs J. Parry, Mrs. Eichman, and Mrs. Buckman, Sydney. The interment took place at Nambucca Heads on June 26th. MRS.
