Humble Oil and Refining Newsletter 1937 Death Notice
JAMES LEVI SMITH
1883 1937
James Levi Smith passed away April 3, 1937, at his home at Cedar Bayou. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and many relatives.
He was a native Texan, born at Huffman, Texas, December 6, 1883. He entered the Humble family at Baytown in 1922, going to work in the mechanical division. He worked in the boilermaker department and the pipe department. In March of last year Levi transferred to the refinery police department.
Levi, as he was widely known to refinery men, was one of those steady, dependable kind of men, loyal and efficient. He had a host of friends, not only in the plant, but in the community in which he lived. He always had a friendly greeting for everyone, and he was a familiar figure in his watchman's uniform, as he capably handled his duties at the gates, where he always had a kindly word for all the men as they came to work and checked out.
In behalf of the men in the plant, The BEE extends deep and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to convey heartfelt words of appreciation to everyone who was a friend and aid during the sickness and passing away of our beloved husband and father, Levi Smith. To the Humble Company, doctors, nurses, friends and churches, flowers, visits, words of sympathy, and prayers.
