Biography

Tabitha S. Snead was born on 24 October 1797 in Accomack, Virginia, United States. She was shown as a daughter by Will^[1] of her father, Tully Snead (1763–1811) wife, "Rosey" or Rosetta Ann Oldham (1779–1867) ^[2].

She married twice, First to William Tully Joynes on 14 May 1813, Joseph Ames was the security on the M.L.B^[3][4]. She allegedly had at least one child, "Tully Armistead Tankard 'A.T.' Joynes, b. 25 Aug 1815, Northampton Co on 21 Dec 1890, St. George Parish, Accomack Co, Virginia^[2].

Following the death of William, she married second to James (of Levin) Stewart as his third wife on 20 Mar 1818 with Elijah A. White as security on their marriage license book^[3][4]. They had at least five children between 1820 and 1836:

1. Harriett S(Snead) Stewart, b. Abt 1820, Northampton Co, Virginia
2. Rose 'Rosey' A. Stewart, b. Abt 1830, Accomack Co, Virginia
3. Tabitha Margaret Susan Stewart, b. Abt 1831, Accomack Co, Virginia
4. Lewis W. Stewart, b. Abt 1833, Accomack Co, Virginia
5. Hugh G(Gordon) Stewart, b. Abt 1836, Northampton Co, Virginia

She passed away in Northampton Co. 1836 perhaps childbirth related at the birth of her son Hugh Gordon Stewart as James married fourth to Leah (of Jacob) Savage on 27 Sep 1837^[3][4].

She is buried in Onancock Cemetery, Onancock, Accomack Co^[5].
