Amos moved to Polk, Texas. Moved there by wagon. Eight of his children came with him. Purchased his homestead of 172 acres on Paces Creek on 13 Nov 1858. The Snell cemetery was established the next year when his son, Christopher Hardy Snell, died. After Amos' death, Cynthia sold the homestead to her son Isaac Newton for his agreement to take care of her in her old age. She continued to live there with her son Columbus Crawford. After her death, Isaac sold the land to his brother C.C. on 15 Sep 1872 who continued to live there with his niece Victoria J. Snell and her husband Bartlett R. Meadows.[1]
