The Tipton Times (Tipton, Missouri), 26 Mar 1896: Jobe Snorgrass was born in Casey county, Kentucky, Oct. 23, 1826, and died in Tipton, Mo., March 19, 1896, being, at the time of his death, 69 years, 4 months and 26 days old. He was one of a family of thirteen children, eleven sons and two daughters. In 1840 the family removed to Missouri, reaching Moniteau county on the first day of May, and he remained here until his death. He was joined in the holy bonds of matrimony with Sarah Ann Martin, of Cooper county, June 18, 1846, the companion of nearly half a century surviving him. To this union were born eleven children, ten of whom are living and have families, as follows: Isham Snorgrass, who resides at Lamar; Mrs. Martha Fisher, Ft. Scott, Kans.; Jeff Snorgrass, Vernon county, Mo.; John Snorgrass, Versailles; Mrs.Betsy Porter, Kansas; Mrs. Jane Gearkin, Glensted; B. F. Snorgrass and Mrs.George Sheerer, Tipton; Finis Snorgrass, Lamonte, and Mrs. Artella Atkinson,Moniteau county. All of the sons and daus. with the exception of Jeff were present at the funeral. Mr. Snorgrass spent most of his life very quietly on a farm five miles southwest of town,where he resided until four years ago when he removed to Tipton. His life has been that of an average man. He was a kind and indulgent husband and father, a good neighbor and a hospitable man. More than a quarter of a century ago he united with the Liberty Baptist church and has led a christian life ever since. He took little interest in politics andnever sought nor held a public office of any kind. He was frugal and industrious and at the time of his death was in comfortable circumstances. The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon, March 21, the services being held at the house, Rev. D. B. Stone, his former pastor at Liberty church officiating, after which interment was made in the Masonic cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends attended. Ely, sole executor of this my last Will and Testament, and direct that he is not to give any bond in any sum as such executor. I revoke any and all former wills by me made.
