Benjamin Snow was born on October 16, 1765, in Cumberland County, in Maine, then part of the English province of Massachusetts Bay, New England. He was the 2nd son of Joseph Snow and his wife, Hannah (Bailey) Snow. When he was 9 years old, Benjamin moved with his parents and family from Cumberland to South Thomaston, then in Lincoln County, Maine (Massachusetts Bay). The area would be ceded to newly-formed Knox County in 1860. The Snow family had been pioneers of this part of Maine for over 100 years.
On November 14, 1792, at only 17 years old, Benjamin Snow married Lucy Davis, b: 1767 in Warren, Lincoln, Maine. The couple settled in South Thomaston, Maine, and had the following 7 children there:[1]
Lucy (Davis) Snow died on October 31, 1810, at 44 years old. With several underage children to raise, Benjamin Snow, soon remarried.
On April 5, 1811, Benjamin Snow married widow Elizabeth Copeland (Wiggin), b: 1769 in Warren, Lincoln, Maine. They had 2 children:[2]
Benjamin Snow died on October 24, 1825, at just 60 years old. He was buried in the Village Cemetery, South Thomaston, Lincoln County, Maine (Massachusetts), USA, near his first wife, Lucy (Davis) Snow. His 2nd wife, Elizabeth (Copeland) Snow, survived his death. Her death and burial information is not known; she may have remarried or been buried elsewhere with her first husband.
