Biography

Daniel Snow was born in July 1769 in Brunswick, Cumberland County, Maine (then part of the English province of Massachusetts Bay, New England). He was the 4th son and 6th child of Joseph Snow and his wife Hannah (Bailey) Snow. He was a 3x great-grandson of original immigrants Nicholas Snow and his wife Constance (Hopkins) Snow, a passenger on the Mayflower that landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620.[1]

When he was a still a small child, in around 1773, Daniel Snow moved from Cumberland County to South Thomaston, then in Lincoln County, Maine. There, on September 25, 1793, he married Sarah Spalding. She was the 25-year old widow of Anthony Mathews. The couple lived in South Thomaston and had 7 children:[2]

  1. Israel Snow b: 28 JUL 1794 in South Thomaston, Lincoln, ME
  2. Sarah Snow b: 17 APR 1796 in South Thomaston, Lincoln, ME
  3. Lydia Snow b: 13 MAY 1798 in South Thomaston, Lincoln, ME
  4. James Snow b: ABT 1800 in South Thomaston, Lincoln, ME

  6. Margaret S. Snow b: 18 JAN 1806 in South Thomaston, ME
  7. Samuel B Snow b: 01 OCT 1808 in South Thomaston, Lincoln, Maine (Massachusetts), USA

Daniel Snow's death date and place are not known, nor is that of his wife, Sarah (Spalding) Snow. They may have moved from South Thomaston after 1812 as no burial records for them have been found there.
