Biography

John Sollows was born Aug. 10, 1731, the daughter of Thomas Sollows and Sarah Ogilvie of Beverly, Mass[1]

On May 17, 1753, he married Anna Elwell, the daughter of Jonathan Elwell and Lydia Sollows of Gloucester, Mass[2], and their children included:

  1. John, born Oct. 23, 1754[1], who died in 1756[3]
  2. Lydia, born Aug. 27, 1757[1], who married John Landers, son of Sealed Landers[3]
  3. John, born Oct. 3, 1759[1] [3]
  4. Thomas, baptized. Oct. 4, 1761[1] [3]
  5. Willoughby, baptized. July 31, 1763[1], who married Judith Corning, daughter of Ebenezer[3]
  6. Joseph, born April 11, 1766 in Yarmouth[3]
  7. Walter, born May 12, 1768, who married Anne Rose, daughter of Richard[3]
  8. Sarah, born September 19, 1779, who married Benjamin Larkin, son of Walter[3]

In 1764, Jonathan and Anna Sollows emigrated to Nova Scotia, where they were among of the early settlers of Yarmouth township[4] [5] [6] [3] [7]

Anna (Elwell) Sollows died January 5, 1776[3]
