Goals

The purpose of the Black Heritage Cemeteries Team is to work together and communicate in one place everything related to African American Cemeteries. The hope is that other researchers, like you, will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that connect, cross or intersect by documenting thier burial information.
We aim to:

  1. Create a meaningful bio for each profile so that it accurately represents a person's life
  2. Connect all African American profiles on WikiTree
  3. Build Cemetery Categories for African American Cemeteries.
  4. Build corresponding spacepages for the newly built cemetery or any cemetery that does not have one.

Membership Requirements

Requirements for joining:

  • Have Family Member level membership and sign the Honor Code
  • Declare what you would like to work on within the project

Once you join we ask you to:

  • Make at least one contribution towards the team's goals every six months
  • Join the project's Google Discussion Group
  • Respond to the six-monthly check-in and to your team leader/coordinator
  • Add black-heritage to the tags you follow to keep up with project posts
