Purpose

This group has been formed for all of the descendants of Joel Waters to connect and collaborate on WikiTree. Joel Waters (Watters) came to Canada from the U.S. in 1783 as a Loyalist. He had 13 children born in Westfield, Kings County, New Brunswick, Canada, and 7 years before his death in 1858, he remarked in the 1851 Canadian Census that he had living 11 children, 90 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Those numbers have continued to grow!

This group is for all of the descendants of Joel Waters, regardless of their surnames. That includes Hardings, Stevens, Craig, Lingley, and many more, to collaborate in researching the open questions about Joel and his origins.

No record of their marriage has been found in Kings County, New Brunswick. A hint appears in the 1804 Mar 21 Deed (Kings County) from Ralph London, Blacksmith, and Ann, his wife, both of Westfield to Joel Waters, Yeoman, of "Mugarville" in Sunbury County.
