| In 1493 the Lordship of the Isles was terminated by James IV of Scotland. Unofficially the Lordship continued to exist with support from the Islesmen. After the Battle of Bloody Bay and the defeat of John MacDonald his son was recognized by many islanders as the new Lord. | ||
