Biography
Thomas McCalley was born about 1807 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. At a young age he moved to Madison County, Alabama, near Huntsville. He ran a very successful dry goods business and by 1850 was a wealthy man who owned over 70 slaves. In the 1860 census he was listed as owning 48 slaves.

Notes
The enslaved from this plantation were emancipated after the Civil War, during the lifetime of Thomas McCalley. After much research, with all online tools and resources, there seems to be little information available about the enslaved who lived on this plantation.
