Otie May Sparkman was born on January 31, 1883, in Era, Cooke, Texas, United States, daughter of John Henry Sparkman (1854–1935) and Nancy Willis Robinson (1854–1948). [1]
Otie (23) married Benjamin Franklin Rhodes (37) (born on March 14, 1869, in Drakeville, Appanoosa Co., IA; son of David Wirick Rhodes and Sarah (Wharton) Rhodes) on September 12, 1906, in Cooke County, Texas. [2] They moved first to Cordell, Oklahoma, [3] then to Harper, Kansas by 1920, [4] and to Conway County, Arkansas by 1930. [5] They settled in Searcy, Arkansas by 1935. [6] [7] Otie moved on to Abilene, Texas before 1957.

Otie died on July 21, 1982, in Abilene, Taylor, Texas, aged 99. [8] She is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Searcy, Arkansas. [9]
