Biography

Scott was born in 1852. He passed away in 1928.

Albert Scott Spiller, was known to family and friends as "Scott" Spiller. He was the son of William D. Spiller and Harriet Warden. William is said to have gone to look for work and was never heard from again. He left before Scott was born. By 1860 Harriet was living with Henderson T. Johns and had a child, Andrew Peter Johns by him. Scott was a sawyer by trade and worked at the Medley Saw Mill in Sharp Co. AR.

For the first 20 years of his life he was known as Albert Johns, living in the household of his mother and step-father, Henderson T. Johns. The family lived in Union Co. IL in 1860, by 1870 they had moved to Batesville, AR. They most likely moved to Evening Shade about 1872.[1][2]

Scott married on Aug 31, 1874 in Sharp Co. to Mary Jeanette Smith, daughter of Elijah Smith and Malinda Puckett. Scott and Jeanette had 6 children: Sarah Dean who married Charles Albert Whitten, Alberta Gertrude who married Thomas C. Rush, Frederick Clifton who married Nora Evelyn Meadows, Ollie May (never married), Martin V. who died at age 3, and Miriam S. who married Richard Alexander Stroud.[3]
