Percy Silver Steele was born in 1892, his birth registered as Percy Sylver Steele in Carlton, Victoria. He is the son of John Steele and Annie Pannell. By 1894, the Steele family had returned to South Australia. [1]
On 17th April 1913, when he was 20, Percy married 17-year-old Lucy James at the Presbytery, Semaphore, South Australia. Their marriage was registered in the Port Adelaide district, with their fathers recorded as John Steele and David James. [2] [3]

ALLEGED SHOPBREAKING
George Edward May (30), a laborer, residing in Port Adelaide, appeared before Mr. G. W. Halcombe, S.M at the Port Adelaide Police Court on Saturday charged on the information of Inspector J. E. Noblet with having broken into the shop of Percival Silver Steele at Port Adelaide on June 7, and that he stole therefrom a quantity of leather, a quantity of boot tacks, and three pairs of heels, together valued at £1 4/, the property of Percival Silver Steele.
Inspector Noblet obtained a remand to Tuesday afternoon. Bail was allowed in the defendant's bond of £20 and a surety of the same amount. [4]
Percy Silver Steele passed away in South Australia on 17th July 1980, aged 88 - his forename mistakenly formalised to Percival for the records of death and burial. He is interred in the Cheltenham Cemetery with his wife, Lucy (1959), and a daughter-in-law, Gwendoline (1942). The online burial record states his previous residence was Morgan, SA. [5]
