KS; and Charles E., 11/12yo b. June 1879. Mother-in-law Anne Bruce, 70yo b. OH, was visiting, and a boarder, Benjamin Farmer, 18yo b. IN, is living with the family. Elijah's parents and Martha's mother were born in OH, while Martha's father was born in VA.[3]

In 1885, J. T. "Staut", a 36yo farmer b. IN, lived with his wife M. E., 33yo b. MO, and 6 children: Arthur M., a 15yo farmer b. MO; Jessie V., 13yo b. IA; Elmer H., 9yo b. KS; Ernest B./R., 7yo b. KS; Charles E., 5yo b. KS; and daughter G. A., 8 months b. KS. Anna Bruce, a 75yo weaver b. OH, is also living with the family, as is J. S. Staut, a 23yo farmer b. MN. The family came to KS from MO. All the children, except G. A., attended school during the year. Mo military service is shown for anyone in this family. It is probable that E. T. Staut was living in the same dwelling as his father's family.[4]

In 1900, Elijah T. Stout, a 52yo blacksmith b. IN April 1848, lived in a place he owned with his wife Martha E., 48yo b. in Sept 1851, who was then a hotel keeper. Five children were living with them: Charles E., 20yo b. KS June 1879, who worked as a day laborer in dairy; Gracie A., 15yo b. KS July 1884; Emma M., 10yo b. KS June 1888; Roy R., 8yo b. KS Sept 1891; and Earl A., 3yo b. TX July 1896. Sister Mary J. Stout, 32yo b. MS Sept 1867, lived with the family, as did two boarders. Elijah and Martha have been married for 31 years, and Martha has had 13 children, 8 of whom are living.[5]

In 1910, Elijah T. Stout, a 62yo farmer b. IN, lived on a farm he owned with his wife Martha E., 48yo b. In, and 3 children: Elmer H., a 36yo farmer b. KS; Roy R., 18yo b. KS; and adopted daughter Anna M., 9yo b. WA. Elijah and Martha have been married for 41years, and Martha has had 13 children, 7 of whom are living. Elijah's parents and Martha's mother were born in OH, while Martha's father was born in VA.[6]
