Leonard Stump was born in 1758, the son of Christopher Stump, one of the oldest pioneers of Heidelberg Township.[1]

Leonard was baptized and Spo: Leonard and Gertrude Miller Millback Ref. Church, Lebanon Co., Pa. p. 167. He is a yeoman by trade. [a farmer]

Christopher bequeaths his plantation, 270 acres(Heidelberg Twp.), to his two sons Leonard and Christopher. The upper or southward half went to Leonard. But in order to gain this he must pay the Executors 100 pounds to help pay for the legacies of others. He is also to work with his brother Christopher to provide "a sufficient livelihood for my beloved wife Margaret during the time or as long as she shall remain my widow and not longer..."

Leonhardt may have served in The Heidelberg Company, Lancaster County, 1775 under Captain George Hudson, as a private. Also in the Lancaster County Militia, September 25, 1781 December 25, 1781, and July 8, 1782.. He was listed in the 1798 United States Direct Tax as a resident of Heidelberg Twp., (the farm he inherited from his father). The farm had two houses, the smaller occupied by George Schreck or Schreche. The house Leonard lived in was 30 by 24 feet, two story, limestone building with a 20 by 15 feet hewn log extra building . He also had a stone barn 70 by 30 feet, on 300 acres of land, in a verage condition, valued at ,960 (which includes ,000 for the two houses and barn plus land of ,960 by assessors) or, 152 (which includes ,152 by the commissioner of taxes, plus the houses). The farm had good limestone land and a good meadow. No will or estate is known.

George Leonard's issue: He married 31 Dec 1782 to Maria Scobefer, at Stouchsburg, Berks, Pa. He inherited a 135 acre farm and a negro lad named John from his father's will, also.
