The biography for Susan Sullivan is empty. What can you add?
Susan was born in Knoxville, TN in 1958 to Jim and Martha Sullivan. The first years of her life were spent in Huntsville, AL as her father began his career with NASA as an engineer designing the massive Saturn V rocket that would take man to the moon. As NASA unveiled the Apollo Program, Susan and her family relocated to Titusville, FL on the central eastern coast of the state. There she would grow up in the shadow of the Kennedy Space Center while her father worked with the American Space Program - first with the Apollo program through the Space Shuttle program in the 1980's. It became a normal part of her life to see, hear, and feel the enormous power of the launches of the era. She graduated from Titusville High School in 1976 and then moved to Orlando, FL to attend Florida Technological University, which was later renamed the University of Central Florida. In 1980 she graduated with a BA in Elementary Education and began her teaching career in Orlando. She would also teach in Volusia County before moving to her hometown in Brevard County. There she would continue to teach for 26 years at the same school, Atlantis Elementary in Port St. John, FL. In 2016, Susan retired after a total of 36 years in the classroom. While living in Orlando in the 1980's, Susan welcomed her first son, Damon in 1985, and in 1989, her second son, Doug, was born in Daytona Beach, FL. She moved back to her hometown of Titusville in 1989, and there she met the love of her life. In 1992, Susan married Mike Phillipp and they began their life together blending their families. Along with Susan's two boys, Mike's two sons made for lots of fun and laughter as the boys grew up. Susan and Mike built their home in Cocoa, FL and have lived in that house almost 30 years. Their family also continues to grow with the addition of their four beloved grandchildren: Kaylana, Layla, Deagan, and Madeline. Golden Retrievers have also been a part of their family - first Kona and Rusty, and now Levi and Maverick. Susan's husband, Mike, also works launching rockets like the Atlas V for United Launch Alliance with a career spanning over 30 years. Susan is looking forward to Mike's retirement so that their remaining years can be spent traveling and spending time with their precious family.
