Biography
James Sutton, Jr. was born 10 Sep 1770 in that part of Westmoreland Co., Pennsylvania, USA that would later be set off to create Washington County. He was the son of Rev. James Sutton, Sr. and Hannah Cox. [1]
He married 1) Elizabeth Bell on 15 Aug 1801 in Hamilton Co., Ohio. [1] James and Elizabeth had the following children before her death in 1810: [1]
- Jacob Sutton, b. 2 Jun 1802, d. 12 Feb 1882.
- Isaac Alva Sutton, b. 20 Mar 1804, d. 18 Feb 1869.
- Jane Sutton.
- Rhodah Sutton.
- Elizabeth Sutton.
- James Sutton, b. 22 May 1810, d. 24 Oct 1848.
After her death, James married 2) Nancy Heaton on 20 Jun 1812 in Lebanon, Warren Co., Ohio. [2] [3] James and Nancy had the following children: [1]
- Hannah Sutton, b. 3 Apr 1813, d. 1 Dec 1815.
- Ebenezer Heaton Sutton, b. 21 Sep 1814, d. 4 Nov 1890.
- Daniel Sutton, b. 2 Dec 1817, d. 16 Oct 1851.
James died 2 Jun 1821 in either Butler Co., Ohio or Miami Co., Ohio. His burial is thought to be around Macy, Miami Co., Ohio. His stone may have been moved to Plainview Cemetery from a plowed-under burying ground. [1]
