Biography

Celia (Swilley) Bradley is the descendant of a Huguenot emigrant.

When Celia Swilley was born in 1796 in Appling County, Georgia, her father, Samuel, was 46, and her mother, Sarah, was 41. She married Eli Bradley on May 21, 1810, in Liberty County, Georgia. They had ten children in 29 years. Celia is also mentioned by name in her father's will in 1817.^[1] She appears in an 1848 tax digest report that states she owns 160 acres of pine worth $16. ^[2] She is also enumerated by name in the 1850 census for Liberty County, Georgia.^[3] She died of typhoid fever in December 1859 in Taylor's Creek, Georgia, at the age of 63.^[4]
