Biography

John Swinerton immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).

Dr. John Swinnerton was born 1632 Eccleshall, Stafford Borough, Staffordshire, England according to the The New England Historical & Genealogical Register, 1847-2011 record. He died 6 January 1690/1 and was buried in the Charter Street Cemetery, Salem, Massachusetts. [1]

During his lifetime he was a physician.

John married Hannah Bartholmew on 8 March 1679/80. [2]


Dr. John Swinerton made his will on 22 November 1688, presented for probate by Hannah Swinerton on 29 April 1691, in which he named his wife Hannah Swinerton, and appointed her as executrix; son John Swinerton; daughter Mercy Swinerton; the children to be paid at 18 and 21 years of age; "In case either of my wifes former children fall short of fifety pound then I desyre it may be made up to either of them out of my estate."[3]
