Birth

Benjamin was born on the 20th of August 1730 in West Greenwich, Kent, Rhode Island. He is the son of Benjamin Tanner and Joanna Lewis. ^[1][2] Only his father is mentioned in the birth record.

Marriage and Children

Benjamin appears to have been married twice:

1. He married Elizabeth Colgrove (Feb 6,1729 - 1760), they had one daughter ^[3]

1. Hannah Tanner (23 March 1758 - 14 August 1836^[3] She m. Daniel Hopkins on 5 Jun 1778 in Scituate, Providence County, Rhode Island

2. Benjamin married Hannah Perkins on the 5th June 1762 in Scituate Twp, Providence, Rhode Island.^[4]. They had seven sons, six of whom survived into adulthood.
