Biography

George was born in 1851 in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England^[1]. He is the son of Thomas Taylor and Maria Ann Bradshaw.

He was less than a year old when the 1851 English Census was taken, living in Birmingham with his parents and older sister, Louisa^[2].

1861 finds him in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with his parents, Thomas and Maria and siblings, Louisa, Frank, Frederick, and Fannie. George and Louisa are listed as born in England, Frank's place of birth is the United States and Frederick and Fannie were born in Hamilton. That would make their departure from England sometime after 1851 and their arrival in Hamilton prior to 1856^[3].

In 1871, he was living in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with his parents and brothers and sisters^[4].

George married Catherine Ann Butler in March of 1871^[5].

They had a son, [[Taylor-55742|Thomas William Belhaven Taylor in September of 1872^[6].

George, Catherine and their son, Thomas are living in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 1881^[7].

1891 finds the family of three still living in Hamilton, Ontario^[8].

In 1901, the household in Hamilton consists of just George and Catherine^[9].
