Martin Teague was born on 16.6.1867 in Peachy Belt, South Australia, Australia to parents Thomas and Elizabeth Teague (frmly Turner nee Rowe). He was his father's 13th child and his mother's 7th child. He was their 2nd child together.

Martin was a farmer of Napperby in 1895 when his father passed his property to him and his brother Thomas. Martin farmer on section 129W which contained the original house. In 1903, Martin sold his half of the property to brother Thomas and moved to the city of Adelaide. This was due to being diagnosed with Bright's disease. He assisted his wife Amy with running inns and saloons after this. Their first was the Royal Wine Saloon on Hindley Street, then the Globe Hotel in Kensington, and the Thistle Hotel at Waymouth Street.
Martin died on 4.4.1941 in Glenelg, South Australia, Australia, aged 74 years. He was buried at North Brighton Cemetery, Brighton, South Australia.
