Biography

Ruby TEW[1] was born 01 Sep 1928 in Sampson, North Carolina, United States. She was the daughter of Rufus Tew and Eva Fortner.

Ruby married[2] Floyd E SKIPPER 12 Feb 1949 in Sampson, North Carolina, United States.

She passed away 06 May 2006 in Raleigh Township, Wake, North Carolina, United States. BURIAL Raleigh Memorial Park Raleigh Twp., Wake County, North Carolina, USA.

MRS. RUBY TEW SKIPPER, 77, of Raleigh, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 following an extended illness. Mrs. Skipper was born in Sampson County on September 1, 1928. She was the sixth and youngest child of Rufus Allen and Eva Fortner Tew.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Floyd Eugene Skipper; by her brothers, Wilbert L. Tew, Joseph R. Tew, and Charles D. Tew; and by a nephew Charles "Pete" Malpass.

Mrs. Skipper graduated from Taylors Bridge High School and attended Campbell Junior College.

She was a longtime member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and her many years as a 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School teacher. She was a past member of the Raleigh Women's Club.

Mrs. Skipper is survived by two children, Susan Skipper McAlister and husband Dan, and William Alan Skipper and wife Jennett; four grandchildren, Sarah Allan McAlister, Thomas Daniel McAlister, Eva Elizabeth Skipper and Emily Alan Skipper, all of Raleigh. She is also survived by two sisters Margaret Tew Malpass and Frances Tew Raynor, both of Clinton, NC, and nieces and nephews Barbara Dunn, Sandra Gupton, Carol Caulder, Michelle Davies, Sharon Johnson, Ann Brown, Glenn Tew, Brenda Jackson, Mark Raynor, and Fran Strickland. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, in Raleigh. A burial service will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
