James was born about 1652. James Thomas died in 1699 and was buried on April 10, 1699. According to the Friends records, he was buried at the Radnor MM burial ground.[1] According to FindAGrave, James was buried at the Merion Friends Burial Ground, Merion Station, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.[2][3] Merion, Radnor, and Old Haverford formed a single monthly meeting that was called Haverford from 1684 to 1698, then became the Radnor Monthly Meeting.
Last Will and Testament:
On February 8, 1699, James Thomas executed his Last Will and Testament giving his Estate as follows: "Estate to wife Margaret and sons Thomas and Nathan. Legacies to son Owen and daughters Elizabeth and Catharine; to grand-children Nathan and Ann; to brother-in-law David Jones and to the Meeting House at Haverford, at Merion and at Radnor. Brother-in-law Thomas Howell, and Duffsyn Maur are mentioned. Executors: Wife Margaret and son Nathan Thomas." The Will was admitted to Probate on August 10, 1699 in Merion Township, Philadelphia Co.[4]
On November 29, 1671, a James Thomas married a Margert Howell at the Pembroke MM, Sheire, Wales.[5] Those who witnessesed the Wedding included Francis Howell and Booe or Baer (?) John Thomas. This makes some sense because the Radnor Meeting is in the original Welsh Tract. Early Welsh Friends started three meetings for worship, Merion, Radnor, and Old Haverford.[6]
