Biography

Lucy's mother was Wiliam Thompson's second wife, known as Juda Pickett. Some speculate that Juda's maiden name may have been Trigg.

Court Records

23 Apr 1868: Green County, Kentucky, Circuit Court
Case #333
Thomas Hardy, Admr. of Waddy Thompson vs. Andrew Jewell, et al.
Thomas Hardy states that Andrew Jewell in 1859 agreed to pay Lucy F. Froggett three notes of $153 each. The notes were assigned to Waddy Thompson. Waddy died in 186_ and Thomas Hardy was appointed administrator in Hart County Circuit Court in 1865.
Mary Weldon and husband, John Weldon and Caroline Sandidge state that they know nothing of the matters in controversy. Their mother, Lucy Froggett, sold and gave her bond to Andrew Jewell as stated. Upon payment, he was to receive conveyance. Aaron Froggett and Francis Froggett are under 21 and D.T. Towles is their guardian.
Andrew Jewell denies that he executed a note of any kind to Hardy or to Froggett. Jewell purchased a tract in Green County from Lucy Froggett. He paid Lucy a horse at $125 and 25 barrels of corn at $95 which she accepted. She also had the labor of his son, William Jewell for one year for which she was to allow $150. He knows nothing of the assignment of the notes.
Lucy Froggett died intestate in Green County without conveying the land to Jewell. She left the following children:
  1. Mary Sandidge married John Weldon
  2. Caroline Sandidge
  3. Aaron Froggett
  4. James Froggett
5 Nov 1859: Agreement between Lucy F. Froggett and Andrew Jewell
Lucy F. Froggett agrees to sell a tract of 100 acres for $800. Jewell agrees to make payment the first towards the said tract of land on which he now lives and owns free from all encumbrances, viz: one horse, valued at $125, 25 barrels of corn valued at $3 per bushel, and Jewell agrees to let her have one of his sons, either James or William, for $150 per year, and the remaining $450 to be paid in three annual payments.
Final Judgement:
Thomas Hardy to recover of Andrew Jewell $300.
