Biography

Osithe was born July 8, 1827, and baptized on August 10, 1827, as recorded in the Barachois church register. She is the daughter of Grégoire Thériault and Nathalie LeBlanc. Godparents were Theodore Theriot and Marguerite Gauthier.

We have records of 4 Osithe Theriault baptized in Barachois. One was Theodore's daughter; born in 1821 and passed away in 1863 with no record of being married.. Another was the daughter of Leon; born in 1849 and married to Narcisse Doiron in 1869. A third was the daughter of Andre; born in 1868. And finally, there was the daughter of Gregoire; born in 1827. Gregoire's daughter is the only one that fits the entry for the wedding of Osithe Theriault and Hypolite Cormier in 1857.

Osithe and Hypolite (Cormea) were married on August 5, 1857, as recorded in the Barachois church register. Witnesses were Jude Cormea and Pelagie Theriault. Parents are not listed.

Osithe died on March 18, 1897, as recorded in the Barachois church register. She was 67 years old and the wife of Hippolyte Cormier. Witnesses were Alfred Roy, Louis Robichaud and Jude Leger. There is a discrepancy of 3 years between her age given when she died and the date of birth.
