Elsje Willems was born in 1562 in Charlois, Holland, Nederland. [citation needed]

Elstje (19) married Evert Tonisz Grift (21) (born in 1560 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Nederland; son of Evert Antonis Van Der Grift) on August 25, 1582 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. [1]

Elstje passed away before 1649. [citation needed]

Research Notes

LNAB according to Dutch Naming Convention should be Willems.

There is an Elsje Thijssen who married to an Evert Tonisz on Aug 15, 1598 in Amsterdam, but she's not this Elsje, and the name Thijssen should be removed.

Elsje Willems and Elsje Tijssen are not the same person.

Several contemporary Evert Tonisz/Antonisz' have been conflated, I've researched them to either place or eliminate as father of Leendert (my ancestor) and brothers. Two of them follow: 1) Evert Tonisz married Elsje Willems daughter of Willem Jacobs, Marriage Bann: 25 AUG 1582 Amsterdam (Elsje Willems with her father Willem Jacobs). Their children (all Amsterdam): Trijntgen: Baptism 11 SEP 1588 (indexed as Evert Tomes & Els Willums); Anne: Baptism 25 JUN 1591 (indexed as Evert Tonijs & Els Willums); Toenis: Baptism 01 APR 1595 (indexed as Evert Tonijs & Els Willums); Aeltgen: Baptism 01 FEB 1598 (indexed as Ewert Tomissen & Elssen Wijllems). They likely had more children before Trijntgen since they married about 1582/83 (I've not found the actual marriage record) I thought this Evert and Elsje could be the parents of Leendert, Simon and Jan but birth dates of Simon and Jan (according to their ages stated in their marriage banns) conflict with Anne so likely not. The marriage bann for Evert and Elsje is pretty clear but I can't read Dutch just bits and pieces so if someone can transcribe I'll be happy to send it. I don't think I have permissions to post it here.

2) Evert Toniz/Antonisz and Elsje Tijssen: Marriage Bann 15 AUG 1598 Amsterdam; This Evert Tonisz/Thonisz was a tailor of Zwolle (stated in his marriage bann), he's also in Poorterboeken 07 JUN 1597 as Evert Thonisz, Kleermaker, Swol; Married: 06 SEP 1598 (indexed as Ewert Tonisz and Elsgen Tijssen) Amsterdam; Their children (all Amsterdam): Giertje: Baptized 12 OCT 1599 (indexed as Evert Torijs & Elsje Tijssen); Jan: Baptized 20 JUL 1603 (indexed as Evert Antonisz & Elsgen Tijssen). Elsje Tijssen Married 2nd to Jan Dirxsz (Marriage Bann 03 SEP 1605) This Evert Tonisz/Antonisz died before 1605 so not the father of Leendert Evertsz and brothers since he was known to be present at various marriage banns and baptisms post 1605, but since he was also a tailor has perhaps been confused with father of Leendert.

All baptisms, banns, marriages are from Stadsarchief Amsterdam. I have copies and links if needed.
