Louis Zephirin Toups, son of Zephyrin & Marie Adele Chauvin, was born 4 October, 1891 as recorded at the Thibodaux Church, Lafourche Parish. His draft registration card and his grave marker give his year of birth one year later (1892).^[1] He lived with them in Police Jury Ward 7, Lafourche, Louisiana^[2] at least through 1910.^[3]

By 1917 he was living in Jefferson Davis Parish, Louisiana, where he registered for the draft.^[4]

Military Service

He was a private in the US Army during World War I.^[5]

After the war he married Marguerite Marie Nohe, daughter of Charles Joseph Nohe and Anna Conaughy on 8 June 1922 in Jefferson Davis, Louisiana, United States. She was 24 years old and he was 29. A scan of the marriage license and civil marriage is available for viewing at the source site. ^[6]
