Biography

David Treadwell was born in about 1698, the son of Samuel Treadwell and Martha Turney. He married Sarah ____ and passed away about March 1727.

David and Sarah are known to have only one child, Hannah Treadwell, who married Nehemiah Hubbell.

Not a great deal is known about David. As the eldest son of Samuel Treadwell, he received 3/4 of the house and barn in his father's Will. Like his father, he may have been a tanner or a leather worker as the inventory of his estate taken in April 1727 showed that he had a good quantity of leather, "taylors shears" and a shoemakers' bench. The inventory also included a dwelling house & barn, 2 acres of orchard and 10 1/2 acres of upland and meadow and it could be assumed that he was living on his father's old homestead at Stratfield.
