Ann was born before 19 January 1772, the date of her baptism. She was the daughter of Richard Trethewey and Mary Warne. [1]
Ann married John Richards on 3 June 1793 in St Stephen in Brannel.[2] [3]
She passed away in 1861, aged 89. Her death was registered in St Austell in the 2nd quarter of the year. [4]
Death Date: There are two conflicting death dates according to different sources. Find a Grave has 1847 while the death registration suggests 1861. [4] [5]
Find a Grave, which states a date of 1847, has no photograph of the memorial, therefore no corroborative evidence[6]
There is an Ann Warn Richards, listed as 89 year old widow mother of head in the 1861 census (taken on 7 April 1861) [7] so it is most likely her and therefore, I would think that the 1861 death date is potentially the correct year of her death and there is an error on the Find A Grave record.
Additional Note:
There is a burial record for a Mary Warne Richards, age 89, residence Trethosa Moor, buried in St Stephen in Brannel on 23 April 1861. The age and residence agree with Ann's details, including the death registration (June Quarter of the year), so I suspect there is a mistake on the register, with the officiant recording the wrong name. [8]
St Stephen in Brannel Parish Register, Record of Burial: Mary Warne Richards |
Searches on both Cornwall OPC and Family Search reveal no other records for a Mary Warn(e) Richards, which would suggest that the above theory might be correct.

I was just looking for a source for Ann's death and can't find one. I wonder whether the 1861 date on the profile is for an Ann Trethewy not an Ann Richards? There are a couple of Ann Richards on the Cornwall OPC but their age of death is wrong. Will keep looking. Sally
